WWE Raw Results:
— The show opens with Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens as they hosted the Highlight Reel. They congratulated themselves and give thanks for each other, then insulted Seth Rollins, who isn’t cleared to be here tonight. Roman Reigns interrupted and challenged Kevin Owens to a match tonight, with a stipulation that if he beats him, he will earn a title shot at Roadblock. Owens accepted.
1. Braun Strowman defeated R-Truth. Strowman won a quick match with the running powerslam.
— After the match, Strowman beat down Goldust as well. Sami Zayn ran in and attacked Strowman, but Strowman beat on him until Mick Foley and officials came down and made him leave the ring. After the commercial break, Foley said he stopped the beatdown twice because he’s trying to save Sami from himself, and that he can never win against the monster. Zayn took offense to that and called Foley a hypocrite.
2. Tony Nese defeated Cedric Alexander. Alexander attacked Drew Gulak, who got up on the apron, allowing Nese to hit a pumphandle powerbomb for the pinfall.
— As Chris Jericho attempted to leave the building, he was attacked in the parking lot by Seth Rollins and Pedigreed on top of a parked car.
— Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte ended in a double countout, but Foley came out and made the match a no disqualification, falls count anywhere bout later in the evening.
3. Enzo Amore defeated Rusev. Enzo won by disqualification when Rusev kicked him square in the crotch in full view of the referee.
4. Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar. Brian Kendrick sat in on commentary for this match. Swann won by pinfall after the Swann Kick.
— Sheamus and Cesaro beat up a bunch of people in a bar as a means of bonding.
5. Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens. Reigns was able to pin Owens after a spear.
— In a sit-down interview, Paul Heyman admitted that he and Brock Lesnar screwed up by taking Goldberg too lightly. He said Lesnar was embarrassed, and Lesnar is entering the Royal Rumble match, where there will be one winner, 28 losers, and one victim: Goldberg.
6. WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) defeated The Club. Xavier Woods rolled up Karl Anderson with a handful of tights to get the pin, as New Day retained their titles.
7. WWE Raw Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte Flair (c). In their falls count anywhere, no disqualification match, Sasha forced Charlotte to tap out to a handrail-assisted Banks Statement.
— After the match, Ric Flair came to the ring and celebrated with Sasha, who earlier said she was going to dedicate her title win to the Hall of Famer, as they were in his hometown of Charlotte.
Really again?
Why does anyone watch this garbage
Because it’s less painful than watching my favorite football team job at home?
Heard that
Just to piss you off. Because fuck you.
But wait! Charlotte gets her title rematch at Roadblock!! And she’s undefeated on PPV! And if she wins then wait! Sasha gets her title rematch on Raw!
Smh…wow, just gotta laugh
At this rate, Sasha and Charlotte will both have Ric’s record beat by Wrestlemania.
They are destined to do this forever. Or until Sasha’s feather-like physique breaks. Whatever comes first.
Ivory or whoever the hell has the record for most Women’s Title reigns must’ve said something to piss off top brass.
Funny how Smackdown hasn’t treated it’s Women’s belt as a hot potato.
And please, name one GREAT SD Women’s Title match since Becky won the title.
I think the problem is that on Smackdown there’s nobody that is really in Becky’s league to seem like a legit threat to take the title. Nikki is the only other one that I could see them putting the belt on and she’s a face. On Raw you have Sasha, Charlotte and then Bayley and Nia who could honestly become champion on any given night and it wouldn’t even be a shock. SD doesn’t have enough suspense for the matches to be thst impactful
@B-Low this is an entirely valid argument. Nikki is arguably on her last run, so if she did capture the title it would probably be no other reason than as a transitional, temporary champ. Meanwhile, they’re continuing to misuse Nattie, develop Carmella so she isn’t so green, and who knows what they have planned for Naomi. I can’t help but to think that they had grand plans for Eva Marie but those are on hold, if not completely scrapped. So now the challenge is to make Alexa as threatening and credible as possible.
Personally, It seems like they’re jogging in place until another draft or maybe Asuke (or possibly Mickie James?) gets the nod to join up to the blue side. Raw just seems to have the stronger women’s roster at the moment, overall.
Have you actually watched Smackdown? They give their title far more respect since they’re not treating it like a hot potato.
@B-Low: That’s Bullshit. In fact, Alexa has been a great foil for Becky? Have you even been paying attention?
“Sheamus and Cesaro beat up a bunch of people in a bar as a means of bonding.”
Fucking FINALLY. They should’ve been doing that shit three months ago.
Yea, that’s been bugging me…after they lost their tag title match, there was no kayfabe reason for them to still be partnering/hanging out if they still hated each other. They need to start smashing bottles over dudes’ heads and high-fiving. Giant swing into a Brouge Kick please and thank you.
On another note nice to see New Day gradually turning heel again. Of they’re gonna get the record I think their old over the top heel bragging would be a much better route
Give the RAW writers this: After seeing Ric Flair go to give speech and root for any team that will have him, him frontrunning the women’s division is the most true to life thing they’ve done in a while.
