Ric Flair Doesn’t Want To Watch The WWE Cruiserweights

Ric Flair has never been shy about speaking his mind, but ever since getting his own podcast, he’s really taken it up a notch. He’s talked about having sex with Halle Berry, getting struck by lightning, having the worst matches of his career against the Ultimate Warrior, and presented conspiracy theories about Dixie Carter.

His latest little nugget of Flair from his podcast isn’t quite so bombastic, but it is sure to get people talking. After speaking effusively and at length about the last week’s Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair main event from Raw, he used his praise of those two women to segue into how he doesn’t care much for the cruiserweights on Raw and 205 Live.

“I hate to say it, I have so much respect for the cruiserweights as athletes, but it’s not what I’m looking for. It’s not what I look for to watch. I just feel like, first of all, [Charlotte] is a better athlete than the cruiserweights. Does that make sense? The cruiserweights are great, they’re athletic, really nice guys, but they can’t have a match better than Sasha and Charlotte.”

The interesting thing here is that Flair doesn’t appear to have a problem with the way the cruiserweights have been presented on Raw, just that Charlotte is a better athlete and can have a better match. So I guess the unspoken thing here is that Flair thinks ALL of Raw should be Charlotte. That’s … I mean, that’s kind of hard to argue with, actually. Still, it’s fun to imagine all of the things Flair thinks Charlotte is better than. Pretty much everything, I imagine.

Westworld was great brother, don’t get me wrong. But the hosts? Please. Charlotte’s a better host than those robots. She puts out canapés and everything. Forget about it. Out of sight. The intrigue and mystery and character development are great, really nice stories, but it’s not a better show than Sasha and Charlotte.”
