Scott Hall Isn’t A Fan Of Bret Hart, Who Is ‘Really Selfish’

Bret Hart (until turning over a new leaf recently, supposedly) is one of the pro wrestling legends who has never been afraid to call it like he sees it, which most of the time involves him badmouthing someone or throwing someone under the bus. But now the upper hand is on the other foot, as Scott Hall is dishing out a taste of Bret’s own badmouth medicine, served with a side of shade.

In the November 2016 edition of Total Wrestling Magazine, which you can order here, Hall was asked about his memories of his WWF Championship match against Hart at the 1993 Royal Rumble. Suffice it to say, he isn’t too fond of it, and didn’t have very nice things to say about Bret.

“Going into that if I had have retired Savage I would have been red hot, I would have had some good steam going into that. I’m not a Bret Hart fan. To me Bret’s really selfish, if you watch, there’s points in that match where I’m hitting Bret with what’s regarded as a hell of a working punch, I’m hitting Bret and he’s not even moving, he’s not even registering it. It was what it was, he was the new champion and he needed a win, which he got.”

Hart has had one of the more bizarre pro wrestling careers, of course, owing largely to the Montreal Screwjob and his upbringing with the Hart Family, but he’s also spent most of his time since 1997 alternately burning bridges and mending fences.

It doesn’t come as too big a surprise that one of the members of Shawn Michaels’ notorious “Kliq” wouldn’t have too high an opinion of Bret, of course, but it’s always a bit of a surprise when one of his contemporaries calls him out or speaks ill of him. Not that it’s ever stopped Bret from doing the same, but that’s just the way it goes, I guess.
