WWE’s Next History-Making Event Is The First Women’s Elimination Chamber

WWE Network

Update: It’s official! Stephanie McMahon included the announcement of the match during Raw’s opening segment. Alexa Bliss will be defending the Raw Women’s Championship at Elimination Chamber in an Elimination Chamber.

Original story:

Hot on the heels of the first (and by all accounts, extremely successful) women’s Royal Rumble match, WWE may be preparing for another history making event in their women’s division. According to an exclusive report from the Sporting News, Raw’s upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on February 25 in Las Vegas may have the first women’s Elimination Chamber match.

Here’s what the Sporting News had to say:

Multiple sources have confirmed to Sporting News that WWE’s next pay-per-view event, the Elimination Chamber on Feb. 25 in Las Vegas, will include the first women’s chamber match. The sources also told SN the match will be for the “Raw” women’s championship, which is held by Alexa Bliss.

An announcement is expected to be made on Monday’s “Raw,” but SN could not confirm that by publication time.

This follows a positive trend in WWE that’s seen the first women’s Hell in a Cell match (along with the women main-eventing a pay-per-view), the first women’s Money in the Bank ladder match (which they ended up doing twice), and the first women’s Rumble.

Could Ronda Rousey’s first match in WWE (as a full-time employee, as reported) be competing in a cage? Or will the new Sasha Banks and Asuka Royal Rumble beef lead to a Banks title win in the Chamber and Banks vs. Asuka at WrestleMania?

We’ll keep you updated on any official announcements.
