Is Jay Z About To Drop A New Album?

The moment TIDAL rolled out the lineup for this year’s Made In America festival with Jay’s name attached, the idea began circulating around the music campfire that Hov might be gearing up to drop a new record. Album number thirteen from the G.O.A.T.. Will it be more “Drug Dealers Annonymous” than “Biking”? More “Shining” and “Seen It All” than “Holy Grail”? Art talk? Twins talk? A possible mea culpa to get everybody but Dame back on Roc Nation? The possibilities are endless!

Since 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail there have been many rumors swirling around about Jay’s next musical project. There was the much anticipated duet album with Beyonce following their On The Run tour that failed to materialize. After that, Jermaine Dupri gave word that Hov’s 13th solo album “might be done” last July. Then of course came rumored response to Lemonade, which Internet sleuths, troll artists and jokesters began making album titles for. Atlanta’s Zaytoven was recently spotted with the TIDAL owner, sparking rumors that either Hov was getting a Zay track for his own album or that Jay was going to bless Zay’s album with a guest verse. For his part, Jay has remained totally, and completely silent about any and all possibilities.

In 2017 Jay Z has spent a lot of time around Hollywood, creating acclaimed documentaries on Kalief Browder as well as an upcoming one for Trayvon Martin. He also recently became the first rapper ever inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and has continued to push into venture capitalism. For all those achievements he should of course be applauded, but it probably goes without saying that all the Hov stans are salivating at the thought of hearing one of the greatest MCs of all-time do his thing once again. The wait might be over sooner rather than later.
