Run The Jewels Joins Stephen Colbert To Create The Raunchy Halloween Anthem We’ve Desperately Needed

Run The Jewels drops a new song almost every other day at this point, but their most recent could turn into an annual classic. Their partnership with Stephen Colbert has already paid off in the past with some fine live performances and a deal to create plenty of silly remixes — like Meow The Jewels — but now they’ve teamed to give Halloween a new anthem.

Colbert tries to keep it traditional, like your “Monster Mash” style without too much veering into mature waters. Run The Jewels did not get that memo, though, and proceed to drop a song about Hershey holes and bobbing for things others than apples. It’s fantastic, especially given the typical CBS audience. Colbert plays the straight man for a bit until he decides to get freaky too and sings about jacking lanterns till the break of dawn.

If this doesn’t make you love Halloween, you’re not a holiday person. Halloween needs music and this is right up on the list next to “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” and The Groovie Ghoulies theme song as modern entries. And yes, I know the Groovie Ghoulies is old, but the Toadies did a fine cover and it’s a holiday staple for me while I sit around in my clown mask and scare kids at the park.

Run The Jewels is cool. This kind of thing should happen for every holiday.
