“Where’s Max B when you need him?”

Fresh of the release of These Days…, TDE’s Ab-Soul released his first so(u)lo track with close associate and producer Statik Selektah entitled “To The Max”, dedicating the song to the wavy and incarcerated legend, Max B. The two dropped the track on Statik’s Showoff Radio show late Thursday night on Shade 45.

Over Statik’s cool, calm and collected production, Soulo is able to go in at his own rate, letting his flow take him where his heart desires with Statik providing nothing more than a tasteful backdrop. Stat’s production caters perfectly to Ab’s eccentric flow as the two together essentially provide a ying and a yang to one another.

Per the producer, the track was supposed to make These Days… but was given the pause due to sample clearance issues. Frankly, I’m cool with that because, while I dug the track, it wouldn’t have mesh with the nature of his album from a holistic standpoint. Nonetheless, the Black Lip Pastor rips another joint as he seems to be having quite the musical bromance with veteran producer Statik Selektah, evidenced first on “Alarm Clock” and now on “To The Max.”
