Any hopes people had about ever hearing Detox are about to go down the drain. The reason being is that Dre is about to become so rich that making music will only be even more of an afterthought than it already is.

According to CNBC, Apple is in talks with Beats Electronics to buy the company for a staggering $3.2 billion.

Yes, you read that right.

“The deal could be announced as early as next week, people familiar with the negotiations said, but they cautioned that some details had yet to be agreed and talks could still fall apart.

“Apple will acquire Beats’ streaming music service, which launched this year, and its audio equipment business, which includes its brand of headphones and audio equipment. The Beats management team will report to Mr Cook, said people familiar with the deal. Apple and Beats declined to comment.”

Beats earbuds for everyone who buys an iPhone!

On a serious note, this is a huge move for both parties. Beats already leads on their side with headphones and their streaming music service is fairing well, having already formed a partnership with AT&T. For Apple, there are those to positives plus the notion that the move would give their “cool” factor a much needed jolt.

For Beats…well, that’s just a shit-ton of money. Whatever Apple adds to the equation afterward is simply added whip cream and cherry.

As CNBC states, the deal isn’t confirmed and could potentially fall through. That still won’t do anything to change the status of Detox. Forbes recently listed Dre as one of the richest Hip-Hop stars with an approximate net worth of $550 million. With that type of fortune, Dre’s not thinking about spitting a rap or banging out any beats anytime soon.

But congrats to him for possibly reaching another milestone achievement.
