Athletes Doing Good: Steelers’ LaMarr Woodley Foots The Bill For Hometown’s Athletes

With so many athletes acting a fool on the regular, it’s easy to assume the majority of professional players could give a damn about anyone but themselves. Yet, even in the NFL – a league that had more off-field incidents than ever this offseason – players like LaMarr Woodley step up and give the league’s public relations department a break.

After the school board implemented a policy where all high school athletes would have to pay a fee to play any school sport in his poverty-stricken hometown of Saginaw, the former University of Michigan stand-out cut a check for $60,000 and footed the bill for the whole district. As admirable an act as they come, this generous move means an entire city of parents can now save some much needed money and provide a little extra this year for their children.

Now, if morons like Chad Johnson, Kenny Britt and others could take a cue from Woodley, the NFL might not have a reputation as a league full of knuckleheads.
