Event Recap: Fader & vitaminwater uncapped In Seattle

Last Wednesday, Hip-Hop heads and hipsters alike lined the sidewalks of the industrial Sodo district in Seattle. Energy emanated from the anxious crowd, who waited in high, high anticipation of vitaminwater and The Fader’s latest installment of the upcapped series featuring 2 Chainz and Passion Pit at the Emerald City Trapeze Arts.

By 9 PM, 2 Chainz took the stage, sending the crowd into a frenzied riot far before performing his hit of the same name. Even the hipsters, or obvious Passion Pit fans, seemed to enjoy themselves, like the guy in front of me who exclaimed, “Who is this?!” about Tity Boi, before proceeding to record his entire set. The man of 2 necklaces ran through other hits like “Boo,” “No Lie,” and “Turn Up,” in between teaching audience members how to dance to his songs – put a fist up in the air and rock, basically – and inquiring of the audience of Seattle’s area code.

Playing an eclectic mix of rap including trap and Bay area cuts with reggaeton and moombahton influences, DJ 100 Proof kept the crowd rocking after 2 Chainz left and before Passion Pit graced the stage. While I was largely unaware of Passion Pit or their electronic dance music, the crowd was equally as rowdy for them, and I can appreciate a good show when I see one, regardless of the genre.

Recap footage below and be sure to check vitaminwater’s YouTube channel as they continue updating it with more clips from the remaining #uncapped concert performances.
