Falcons Julio Jones Foot Injury Could Cost Him The Rest Of The Season

The Atlanta Falcons lost three games in 2012, this year they’ve already lost four. Now, to add injury to insult, they’ve also lost their best player. Julio Jones, the league leader in catches with 41, broke the screw in his surgically repaired foot during the Falcons loss to the Jets Monday night (apparently it was before he did this).

If Jones, who will reportedly seek a 2nd option on his foot today, needs surgery to repair his foot it is likely he will miss the rest of an already dismal Falcons season. Jones broke a bone in the foot in 2011, before the NFL combine, went to the combine and ran the 3rd fastest 40 and posted the best broad jump by a receiver, and then had the surgery.

The Falcons should probably be thinking long term with Jones, already in an 1-4 hole, with the undefeated Saints leading the division and one of the NFC West’s two juggernauts grabbing one of the NFC Wild Card spots, the season is probably already over. Jones joins Steven Jackson and the already playing hurt before he left Monday’s game Roddy White on the injured Falcons weapons list. Tony Gonzalez is about to get a lot more of that double team treatment the Patriots gave him at the end of their Week 4 game.

But hey, at least the Braves are doing good But hey, at least the Dream are in the WNBA Finals.
