Even when measured against his own lofty standards, Kevin Durant has had a season to remember. And now, after months of speculation, we can confirm that he’ll be walking home with some hardware this season.

Today, Durant was announced as the winner of the league’s top honor, claiming his first his first MVP trophy.

Much like his scoring this season, KD didn’t just win; he outpaced everyone else by a large amount. Per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Durant pulled in 119 of 125 first-place votes. LeBron James finished with six first place votes, putting him in second, followed by Blake Griffin, Joakim Noah and James Harden, respectively, rounding out the top five.

The crowning shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Durant’s 32 points per game are the most to lead the league since Kobe averaged 35 points per game during the 05-06 season.

It’s been a hell of a season for KD, and, of course, Nike’s celebrating it by announcing plans to release a limited edition MVP t-shirt as well as a new pair of KD VI NIKEiD kicks, both set to release very soon.

Update: The KD MVP tee is available now at Nike Store. Go forth and flourish.

Update #2: Thanking teammates individually and recounting the journey from PG County, Maryland, to May 6, 2014, Durant delivered one hell of an emotional acceptance speech. He fought back tears the entire time, but managed to everyone in attendance get caught in their emotions telling his mother, Wanda, “You’re the real MVP.”

Update #3: Here’s the speech in its entirety. If you haven’t figured it out by now, you may need tissues by the end of these so grab a few before punching play.
