Throughout his time in the spotlight, Wale’s always fashioned himself a fan of the Washington Redskins. Those times include the Skins’ lean years where the air was filled with more despair than hope. But, the team and their fans’ fortunes all changed once Robert Griffin III was drafted as the second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

RGIII’s lead the resurrection of the franchise and the sports world sang his praises heavily during his rookie campaign. Now, Wale’s joining in the chorus by adding a new song titled “No Pain, No Gain” to RGIII: The Will to Win, a documentary focusing on the star athlete.

As the rapper explained to Hip-Hop Wired, his contribution to the film was organic as it comes due to his support of the phenomenal quarterback and his home team.

“It’s just a no-brainer to me because I’m a big supporter of Rob and everything that he’s been doing and what he stands for…I did my best to speak for him,” says Wale of “No Pain No Gain.” “[RG3] ain’t no rapper, at least I don’t think so; he probably could if he wanted to. If I was telling a story to get inside of Robert’s mind, what would he say? That’s pretty much it.”
