About two months ago I pondered on the idea of Hollywood’s current it-woman, Lupita Nyong’o, taking up the reins of Storm in the X-Men franchise in a post Days of Future Past world. However, it looks like Ms. Nyong’o had her eyes set on a different multi-million dollar epic franchise. Earlier today Lucasfilms revealed that Lupita, alongside Game of Throne’s Gwendoline Christie, will be added to the cast of the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII. This casting will hopefully appease some fans who were worried that the new films would be too XY heavy.

The Oscar winner and GoT bad-ass will join a cast that already includes old-favorites like Mark Hamil, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher, as well as newcomers like John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, and Andy Serkis. This is shaping up to be one well stacked sci-fi/western/fantasy blockbuster.

Sadly, no word yet on what role Lupita or Gwendoline will be taking up. Then again, only actors from the original trilogy have been connected to any roles. Your guess is as good as mine as to who or what the newcomers will be attached to, but this is definitely exciting news.
