The mixture of Hip-Hop and Electronic or Alternative music, whatever you want to call it, is not a new concept. Wale turned “D.A.N.C.E.,” an electro-favorite by dance club heavy weights Justice into “W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.” and since then others have tried their shot at climbing the strange and obscure mountain, but many have failed. However, Lushlife, the lyrical wizard from Philly has managed to see the summit by taking a synth-pop summer jam and flipping it into a Hip-Hop opus full to the gills with classic visuals from the street corners of the golden era.
On another note, it’s funny that this should surface because days earlier one of my super weird homeboys put me onto the group he sampled for this joint, Washed Out. Their EP, Life of Leisure is chock full of sharp synths and haunting vocals that will have any fan of the super obscure head nodding. You’ll also find the track Lush sampled for this joint that goes by the same name.[audio:https://uproxx.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/feel-it-all-around-_lushlife-version_.mp3%5D
