“Disrupted the game, the industry was shook up
Three young rich n****s, never did a push-up
You want the origin of the flow, you better shut the f*** up
And listen up, to what the Migos bout to cook up”
Migos new song and video for “Origin” feels a lot like the Beverly Hillbillies theme in nature. It sums up their journey in a sing-songy way and simplifies their rise from regional hotshots to making noise on a national level. In fact, they still have a huge amount of growth to come, if they can avoid tripping themselves up along the way with fights and, more recently, arrests.
Not for nothing, the three young men have enjoyed their share of riches and notoriety early after entering the game. Even though Offset’s arrest caused them to have to reset the release of their debut album, YRN Tha Album, which will now be out July 31, good things are still on the horizon.
Their Quality Control home just announced a new joint venture with Capitol Music Group and Motown Records to give the group a larger platform. They also just landed a nomination for “Best New Group” for the BET Hip Hop Awards. And, Offset says he should be free in a couple of weeks.
YRN will feature production from heavier names like DJ Mustard, Zaytoven, Honorable C Note and 808 Mafia’s TM88 along with others the group’s had success with – Murda (“Emmitt Smith”), De-Ko (“Hit Em,” “One Time”), and Cheeze Beatz (“Handsome & Wealthy”).
