Well, in actuality, the Air Cruz Trainer in and of itself is a nod to models gone before with bits and pieces taken from the old to create something new. But, the ‘Silver Wing’ pair seen here definitely tips the scales in terms of old school appeal.
The color scheme used here definitely invokes visions of the iconic Air Jordan 3 in black/cement until you look a little closer and note that it’s Safari print, another signature element from the Swoosh’s past, that covers the toe guard. But the rest of the color scheme? Jordan-influenced and that’s not meant as a bad thing either. The only thing my life could do without is another shoe with a translucent sole. Nike must’ve bought that stuff by the gallons because they continue to put it on every other shoe that releases like they aren’t fully aware that discolored soles are one of the world’s worst nightmares.
No word on when or where these will release since there’s already the black/crimson and the ‘Rush Blue’ pairs releasing on January 16 and February 7, respectively. Maybe these along with the all red joints are the tricks up the sleeve that Vic hinted Nike was planning to surprise people with. We’ll update when more info becomes available. For now, let the impatient wait begin.
Update: According to TSG’s sources, this colorway will not release.
