Netflix Must-See: “Snow On Tha Bluff”

A friend of mine told me a couple of days ago that I had to watch Snow On Tha Bluff. He refused to tell me anything about the movie, but made me promise I’d watch. I watched it yesterday, and I’m not sure I can even process what I witnessed.

The movie has been around for a year or so and has quite the underground buzz with people wondering just how much of it is real. The flick is a docu-drama that features a handheld camera following protagonist Curtis Snow around through home robberies, shootouts and the darkest corners of the hood. There’s been plenty of controversy as it’s still unknown how much of what’s on camera is real or staged. The police have even tried to obtain some of the uncut footage for investigation.

Regardless of if it’s real or not, Snow On Tha Bluff is one of the most gripping cinematic experiences I’ve ever had. There are parts of the movie that are horrifying, depressing, hopeless and oddly motivational. At one point, I had the sugar lump watching Curtis cope with his situation. While the movie takes place in Atlanta, the setting could be anywhere in the country. In light of the horrors we’re witnessing in Chicago and across the map, the movie is a fascinating glimpse at what goes on in Any Hood, U.S.A. on a daily basis.

Watch Snow On Tha Bluff on Netflix, check the official site for additional info, and then tell a friend about it. It’s essential viewing.

And if you really want to show some support, shell out some money to cop the movie on Amazon, iTunes or Wal-Mart.
