On Monday evening, about a half-hour before the U.S. Women’s World Cup Round of 16 match was to kick off, Sports Illustrated NFL writer Andy Benoit tweeted something very, very stupid.
You’ll notice that is a screen capture and not the actual tweet because hours later Benoit deleted what he said. The next morning, he issued an apology for his “stupidity.” But that wasn’t enough to stop Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler from ripping Benoit to pieces during their latest edition of “REALLY!?!” on Wednesday night.
Hopefully Benoit has learned a valuable lesson from all of this: Never tweet.
