It’s not Miesha Tate. It’s not Cris Cyborg. Instead, Ronda Rousey will lock horns with Holly Holm, arguably the best striker in women’s MMA. The fight will take place on January 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The UFC confirmed Ronda’s announcement on Good Morning America with a tweet.

Holm is an interesting choice for Rousey. The 33-year-old is a former boxer, having won 18 world championships in three different weight classes. She possesses extreme punching power, the likes Rousey has never seen before.

Here’s what Ronda said about the match-up:

“Well, I prepare for a five-round war every time I get in there. No one’s easy until after you beat them. And, with Holly Holm, she’s the type that can go 12 boxing rounds. It’s not the average chick I would fight. She’s the best striker I’ve ever fought, and striking is something I’ve learned much later in my career. And so, I don’t expect fights to be easy and fast. In fact, no one knows how the fights are going to go, and that’s why everyone buys them.”

But does she think she can win:

“Of course. I can take anybody.”

Holm is 9-0 as an MMA righter with six of those victories coming by knockout. Her last fight was on July 15 at UFC Fight Night 71, a unanimous decision victory over Marion Reneau.
