Steve Nash Jokes That The Only Thing He Helps Steph Curry With Is ‘His Laundry’

The rich just keep on getting richer. Steve Nash is joining the defending NBA Champion Warriors, pairing the two-time MVP in Phoenix with last season’s MVP, Steph Curry. The humble Dubs point guard has already had a little fun at his coach’s expense, but Nash’s presence as a player-development coach will only help the Warriors try to defend their crown. The only question we have is, if they win the title, does Nash finally get that ring he’s been chasing for so long?

Diamond Leung of the San Jose Mercury News spoke with Nash about his involvement with the Bay Area champions and the former Dallas, Phoenix and L.A. point guard and future Hall of Famer was just as quick with a quip as his star pupil, and in the process slightly disparaging any instruction he might bring to the table.

The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player award winner nodded at the mention of his new role with the Warriors in an interview with Sportsnet and was asked what reigning MVP Stephen Curry can do better.

“His laundry?” Nash said, shrugging and smiling at a fundraiser in Toronto. “I don’t know.

“As I’ve told Steph, his skill level is so high that although we’ll be on the court together, I don’t know how much I can help him on the court. But through watching a little bit of film and talking, maybe I can help him with situations. But his skill level is incredible, and hopefully I’ll learn as much from him as he will from me.”

This seems like another masterstroke for a franchise who’s been batting .1000 for a while now after dealing David Lee quickly this offseason, re-signing Draymond Green, and trying to extend Barnes before next month’s deadline.

Steph is already at his apex as a player, and adding Nash’s wile and experience can only augment whatever peak we thought Steph reached during Golden State’s magical 2014-15 season. Adding another all-time point guard to that Golden State backcourt is almost unfair.

Plus, Nash can remind Draymond Green what Matrix, Boris Diaw and Amar’e Stoudemire used to do for those old Suns teams, and help turn Klay Thompson into a true secondary ball handler. Also, can’t you just see Nash and Iggy playing epic games of H-O-R-S-E before Warriors practice?

We like everything about this hire, if only so one of the driest wits in the league, coach Kerr, can be teamed with Nash, perhaps the drollest former player you’ll find in the Association.
