Danny Amendola Put An Awfully Dirty Hit On Jamell Fleming

Danny Amendola added a new angle to his professional resume today with this very dirty hit on Kansas City cornerback Jamell Fleming during a punt return in the second quarter.

The Patriots’ wide receiver, who’s not known for being a particularly dirty player, leveled his helmet directly at Fleming as the Chiefs’ returner was lining up to down a punt inside the five and stood completely defenseless. Flagged for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty, the downed punt and penalty ended up pinning the Patriots back at their two-yard line to start the drive.

But in typical “everything works out for them” Patriots’ fashion, Amendola was not only not ejected for his hit, but the Patriots proceeded to move the ball effortlessly down the field and went 98 yards in 11 plays to take a 14-3 lead.

If New England should manage to win today, Amendola might want to turn off his phone and avoid his mailbox, as we’re betting he’ll see at least a fine from the league for this hit. What they should really be concerned about is a possible suspension, but considering he wasn’t even ejected, odds on that seem slim.

As far as fans are concerned, stay tuned. With this hit and the extracurricular activity that followed, this game continues to be a chippy affair heading into the second half. Bring on Bengals-Steelers II!
