The Blackhawks Had The Best Disallowed Goal Of All-Time With An Andrew Shaw Header

Nearly midway through the second overtime in Game 2 of the NHL’s Western Conference Finals between Anaheim and Chicago, the Blackhawks thought they had their game-winner after an unbelievable play by Andrew Shaw.

Watch as he does his best soccer impersonation, leaping up high into the air and heading the puck into the back of the net.

Blackhawks players began celebrating on the ice, thinking they had just evened up the series at a game apiece. At the time, even the game’s announcers thought the goal would count. But alas, it was quickly disallowed by the referees, and rightfully so, based on NHL rule 78.5.

All’s well that ended well for the Blackhawks, as they did eventually get their game-winner at the 16:11 mark of the third overtime on a tip-in by Marcus Kruger. The series now heads back to Chicago all tied up, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday night.
