Simone Biles Superfan Channing Tatum Has An Interesting Theory About The Gold Medalist

The shine hasn’t quite left Simone Biles yet after her historic five medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sure, it’s been a few weeks since she finished cementing her status as the greatest female gymnast of all time in Brazil, but since the NFL and NBA haven’t kicked into high gear yet, the national casual fan spotlight hasn’t completely shifted away. So, Biles is taking her opportunity as a famous person to meet some of her favorite people, like Zac Efron and now, Channing Tatum. But there’s a twist: Tatum might be more obsessed with Biles than vice versa.

After confessing to Ellen DeGeneres that meeting Biles would cause him to lose it, Channing dropped a theory about what makes Simone so great that definitely feels true, even if it’s physically impossible in practice:

My theory is that she’s so tiny, she has a harder time holding onto the ground than just going up. Because she just, I don’t know, she’s always flying away. I thinks he’s got really strong toes, and that helps her hold on to the ground.

That all sounds good until you bring in concepts like “gravity” and “birds that are flightless despite literally having hollow bones.” But you know what? Let him have that last little bit of childlike wonder. We all deserve a little magic in our lives.
