Charles Barkley And Gabrielle Union Are Engaged In A Bit Of A War Of Words

When the NBA All-Star rosters were announced on Thursday, Dwyane Wade was included once again which will make this the 11th consecutive All-Star appearance for the Miami Heat guard. Afterwards, TNT analyst Charles Barkley shared his thoughts on Wade’s selection.

“Dwyane Wade shouldn’t have made the All-Star team. He is a Hall of Famer, but he didn’t deserve to be an All-Star this year. Bosh has been the best player for Miami this year. Brandon Knight in Milwaukee, Brandon Jennings in Detroit or Kyle Korver in Atlanta should have been rewarded for having good seasons. This might be the only time Knight, Jennings or Korver have a chance to make the All-Star team. I always give the edge to guys who are winning. Dwyane Wade is not having an All-Star year.”

I will always appreciate Barkley for his candidness, but I’m confident he’s not right in this instance. At age 33, Wade is having another fine season, averaging 21.4 PPG, 5.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. Health has once again been an issue as he’s only on pace to play 64 of 82 games, but his rate stats are right in line with his career norms. Also, Kyle Korver? Is he serious?

Wade’s girlfriend wife Gabrielle Union must have got wind of Barkley’s comments because on Thursday evening, she came to Wade’s defense on Twitter, implying Barkley’s opinion doesn’t matter considering he’s never won anything.

On Thursday night on TNT, Barkley responded as only he can; by questioning Union’s acting ability. The All-Star game is February 15th at MSG, which should leave plenty of time for these two to continue their back-and-forth, and for that we can all be thankful.
