A High School Recruit Is Using The Winner Of A Bowl Game To Make His College Decision

I want to preface all of this by saying that what a recruit decides to do when they go away to college is none of my business or, really, anyone’s business. Outside of the recruit and their family, there is no reason for any of us to care about why a teenager decides to go play football/basketball/anything for a certain school. Sure, we may not like it when that player goes somewhere other than the school that we like, but it’s still none of our business as to why that kid made their decision.

Now, having said that, I need to know why three-star wide receiver Michael Harley is doing this.

This is awesome. Harley, the No. 372 recruit in America according to his 247Sports Composite rating, is currently committed to West Virginia. On Dec. 28, though, he may change his mind based on what happens when the Mountaineers play Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl. We always hear that the Playoff has made the other bowls “irrelevant” or something, but this adds a ton of intrigue to what should have already been a good football game. It’s also not common to hear a recruit say that they will decide based on the result of one game, let alone a bowl game between the third-best team in the Big XII and the third-best team in the ACC Coastal.

Harley is from Florida, but has been committed to Dana Holgorsen’s team since June 26, 2016. The game is being broadcast on ESPN, and I am demanding that a camera is put on Harley so we can see him make his decision in real time. Additionally, Las Vegas thinks that Harley is going to flip his decision once the game ends, as the Hurricanes are slight favorites over the Mountaineers.
