Dana White Loved Diaz/McGregor 2: ‘It Was An Absolute Epic Fight’

Dana White stopped by ESPN to discuss the absolute war we just witnessed at UFC 202. He gave his thoughts on Conor McGregor chopping down Nate Diaz, and was pleased that it was such an entertaining battle.

“It lived up to all my expectations and exceeded it. I didn’t see the fight going five rounds… It was an absolute epic fight.”

But Dana didn’t think a third time’s the charm for a classic.

Conor McGregor said he expected a third fight to go down, possibly at 155. Maybe even if Conor holds the belt. If the UFC doesn’t want to make this third fight right away (Conor is on crutches and fears a broken foot), then we need to consider what’s happening in multiple divisions here.

First off, if Conor is out for an extended time with his shin/foot injury, then we should consider making Jose Aldo’s interim featherweight title the real deal. Conor hasn’t defended, and it may be 2017 when he can fight again.

Secondly, 155 calls to McGregor. That’s his weight class, we all know. He’s healthier there, and he can get the job done against smaller competition. I’m thinking Nate/Conor 3 could be for the number one contender, but when would that fight happen, if ever?

Is the featherweight belt a distant memory for Conor?
