The Kings Turned DeMarcus Cousins Into An Unstoppable Running Back In ‘Madden 17’

Lots of NBA players harbor dreams of crossing over into other sports. Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball; LeBron James thinks he’d make a great wide receiver in the NFL (he’s not the only one). Likewise for Nate Robinson, who actually was a two-sport athlete in college but was recently turned down by the Seahawks. Most of the time, it’s little more than an over-inflated sense of ego.

Technology, however, has allowed us to live vicariously in so many different ways. That’s what happened recently when the Sacramento Kings got together with EA Sports to find out just how big man DeMarcus Cousins would fare on a virtual football field when they made him a character in Madden NFL 17.

Although Madden didn’t break, NFL records did, as the 6-foot-11, 270-pound running back recorded League records of 382 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. Oakland defeated New Orleans by a 45-6 tally thanks to Boogie’s Barry Sanders-like moves and Marshawn Lynch-like strength in the running game.

For everyone’s sake, let’s hope Boogie sticks to basketball. The Kings organization has enough to deal with as it is, and we’re worried about how much DMC would love the physicality of football, especially the play after he disagrees with a ref.
