Philadelphia Eagles punter Donnie Jones had a rough Sunday against the Cowboys in Philly. Not only did one of Jones’ punts get blocked, but the punter also proceeded to get absolutely lit up by a block during the ensuing return for a touchdown.

Jones attempted to tackle the Dallas ballcarrier who scooped up the blocked punt, but didn’t keep his head on a swivel and paid a painful price as he was blindsided by a huge block.

The poor punter was shaken up on the play, but the flag that was initially thrown to penalize the block was ultimately picked up and the touchdown counted. Illegal or not, this should serve as a necessary reminder that punters are not supposed to play defense.
