Things Get Worse For The Saints: Drew Brees May Have A Shoulder Injury

The Saints are already off to becoming the ‘Aints this season. After a year of failure in 2014 in which high expectations turned into deep sadness, they were expected to bounce back. Instead, after a flattening by Arizona and an embarrassment at home by the high school level Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints are quickly rising in the power rankings for the No. 1 overall draft spot. How could things get worse? Well, they did.

It’s not clear when or how Brees hurt his shoulder. He never left the game and although he played poorly, he played poorly pretty much the whole time, so no one could distinguish the moment anything happened. Brees is also very old for a quarterback. It’s possible it was just wear and tear that came to fruition against the Bucs. There isn’t any new detail as to what the type of injury is. A few rumors on Twitter mention a torn rotator cuff, but there’s nothing nearly concrete enough to quote.

While Brees was already off to a questionable start, this is hardly good news for the Saints. Without Brees, the Saints are left with Luke McCown to lead the offense. McCown is best known currently for those stupid Verizon commercials with him talking at the camera and wishing he’d get a starting job.

Huh. Maybe the Saints need to look into Luke McCown as a possible suspect.

Edit: Don’t panic yet Saints Fans (At least not for Brees, you should still panic in general), Schefter has some slight good news:
