Watch This Hockey Goalie Snipe A Goal From Behind His Own Net

This excellent hockey highlight features Stuart Skinner, goaltender for the Lethbridge Hurricanes (Western Hockey League), scoring a goal from behind his own goal line. Netminders don’t often get to put themselves in the goal column, and when they do it’s rarely as impressive a bomb as Skinner’s, so this is worth celebrating.

Skinner’s goal came against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night and put his team up 8-3 late in the third period. You may be wondering why the Tigers had their own goalie pulled while trailing by four goals, and the answer is because they’re on the playoff bubble and clearly very, very desperate for points late in the season.

I respect the “never say die” attitude but allowing the opposing goalie to snipe on you probably isn’t great for morale, especially when the goalie proceeds to celebrate with a bench fly-by.

It’s also worth recognizing that the play-by-play announcer for Lethbridge has likely never been as excited for anything as he was to watch Skinner score, so congratulations to him for crossing that off his bucket list in very shrill fashion.
