Both Teams Involved In That Vicious High School Brawl Had Their Seasons Canceled

Yesterday, we showed you a video of a massive fight at an Indiana high school basketball game, one that featured players and parents throwing punches at each other. Today, we learned about the aftermath of that basketbrawl and the punishments handed down. According to the IndyStar, both teams (Hammond and Griffin) had their remaining games of the season canceled.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association added:

-Both have been suspended from the state tournament, and Hammond and Griffith shall not receive any revenue from the sectional.

-For away games, both schools must pay a $500 forfeiture fee to each hosting school left on the schedule. Hammond had two road games remaining (Andrean, Gary Bowman), Griffith had three (Gary Roosevelt, Kankakee Valley, Portage).

-The coaches from both schools must complete a Teaching and Modeling Behavior course, while players from both teams must complete sportsmanship courses.

-Both schools’ boys teams are on probation for the entire 2015-16 school year.

-The game is a double forfeit. Hammond is 12-5, but will forfeit its four remaining games. Griffith is 13-4 and had six games remaining.

Moral of the story here? Don’t go Malice at the Palace. Ever. Nothing good comes of it. Also, don’t push people in the back when they’re going up for a layup. That’s not nice.
