Pit Crew Members At Indianapolis 500 Injured While Being Swiped By Car

There was a frightening scene during Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 when a crew member was clipped and thrown back to his team during an accident on pit road.

According to Chris Jenkins of USA Today, “James Davison was leaving his pit stall when Pippa Mann’s car sideswiped him on pit road, sending him crashing hard into a pair of crew members working on Tristan Vautier’s car.” The incident involved all three members of the Dale Coyne Racing team. Jenkins adds that one of the crew members was taken away in an ambulance. Thankfully, according to the Indianapolis Daily Star live blog, both crew members should be okay:

News on the injured Dale Coyne Racing crew members: Daniel Jang has been transported to IU hospital for further evaluation of a right ankle injury, and Greg Senerius has been checked and released.

Pit road is a dangerous place. With so many cars coming and going at the same time, it’s a wonder there aren’t more accidents. Here’s hoping everyone is okay.
