If you missed the Eagles-Giants game yesterday, you missed an impressive showing by Michael Vick. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback threw for 243 yards and ran for 130 more, amassing 4 total touchdowns as he led the Eagles from a 21-point deficit against the New York Giants. And then, for some reason, the Giants actually punted the ball to the Eagles’ DeSean Jackson, and of course he went the distance as time expired. What happened there, Giants coach Tom Coughlin?
”I’ve never been around anything like this in my life,” Coughlin said. ”It’s about as empty as you get to feel in this business.”[..]
Rookie Matt Dodge, who had been instructed to punt the ball out of bounds, got a high snap and hurried to get his kick off. He hit a line drive that Jackson bobbled at his 35. Once Jackson regained control, he broke through the initial wave of coverage and sped down the right sideline. It was apparent he was about to score, but instead of simply going into the end zone, he danced along the goal line before going in with zeros showing on the clock.
And that image of the Giants? Yeah, the NY Post did that, although I thought Coach Dog made a nice addition. He’s much better at clock management than Andy Reid, plus his pups don’t do drugs.
