Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh Continues To Be A Quote Machine, Says Steak Is His Daily Vitamin

Is Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh someone you trust as your nutrition guru? Based on a recent quip he offered up on his radio show, Harbaugh’s health advice sits somewhere between Ron Swanson and one of those sassy Big Dog T-shirts.

Here’s his philosophy on vitamins as plucked from mlive.com:

“I take a vitamin every day. It’s called a steak.”

If that line seems familiar, it’s because Robert Duvall said it in the 2005 Will Ferrell kids soccer movie Kicking & Screaming. Sadly, Harbaugh failed to sneak in “I am angry. I’m like a large tornado of anger, swirling about” before the show came to a close.

The 51-year-old meltdown enthusiast also sold steak as one of the four best “natural steroids” in the world. He unveiled the big four after a caller asked about grooming their son into a 6-foot-5 quarterback. Take it away, Jim.

“I truly believe the No. 1 natural steroid is sleep and the No. 2 natural steroid is milk, whole milk. Three would be water. Four would be steak.”

If you can sort out how to feed your child a whole milk soaked T-bone while they’re sleeping, you’ll be well on your way to having America’s next ELITE QB living in your home.

Circling back to the quote anchoring this post, it’s not the first time this year Harbaugh (currently 6-2 as Michigan’s head coach) has pulled from the script of a kids’ flick to express himself. Back in October, he dropped a Lion King quote during a press conference ahead of the school’s huge rivalry tilt with Michigan State.

“You can run from it or you can learn from it.”

Harbaugh looked around waiting for someone to recognize the line and was able to get confirmation that the quote was pulled from ultra-wise animated advisor Rifiki. Good stuff.

Football!
