NFL free agent wide receiver Joe Anderson is doing whatever he possibly can to get one last shot in the league.

After playing his college ball at Texas Southern and signing with the Bears as a free agent in 2012, Anderson got a few opportunities to join the Chicago active roster mostly as a return man and special teams player, but injuries prevented him from making too much of an impact and he was released in 2013. In February of 2014, Anderson got another shot this time with the Eagles, but once again his career failed to gain any serious momentum and he was let go.

But Anderson is not willing to let his dream of making it in the NFL go just yet, as he is now waiting outside of the Houston Texans’ stadium begging them to give him an opportunity to tryout, holding up a cardboard sign that says:

Not homeless but STARVING for success!!! #JoeAnderson WillRunRoutes4Food #Whateverittakes #Underdog #Ibelieve #Hungry

If nothing else you have to admire his dedication, but I’m not sure how long he’s going to last before security gives him the boot.

Anderson attempted to give some further explanation in his Instagram caption, where he says he will be waiting outside of the stadium every day, it’s not a publicity stunt (if you say so), and that he’d be willing to hit a ref (??) if he had to.

The reality of the situation is this is almost certainly not going to work out for Anderson, but you have to give him at least a little credit for trying. After watching Hard Knocks this year, if this kind of stunt was going to work on anyone, it would be Bill O’Brien, who absolutely seems like the kind of guy that would be really into this sort of thing as a sign of Anderson’s “win at all costs attitude” or whatever.

The Texans aren’t exactly deep at wideout behind DeAndre Hopkins anyway, so who knows, maybe it’ll actually work (it won’t).
