Wyoming QB Josh Allen Wants to Be The Savior Of The Browns If They Draft Him

There are a few things in life that are inevitable. One of them is that, for as long as they exist, the Cleveland Browns are going to be cursed by the spirit of something much larger than the NFL or the city itself. In a way, it’s almost impressive at this point.

But this year, the Browns caught a bit of luck: They own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Three picks later, they’ll draft again. There’s a ton of talent at the top of this draft, and one of the players expected to go rather high in the draft thinks he’s just what Cleveland needs.

Wyoming signal caller Josh Allen may be the most highly-regarded quarterback prospect in the draft. During an appearance on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, Allen spoke about potentially becoming the man to lead the Browns’ organization.
Via Cleveland.com:

“If I’m fortunate enough to become a Cleveland Brown, you can expect everything from me,” Allen said. “I want to be the guy that turns around the Cleveland Browns. The guy that does that is going to be immortalized in Cleveland forever.”

So listen, I respect his desire to take on the challenge of turning around a franchise that has one win in the last two seasons, and it would be far weirder if he said “I know that if the Browns draft me, I will be doomed” or something. But Allen being so open about wanting to take on the history of this franchise — especially considering he didn’t exactly have the most gaudy stats during his college career — makes me wonder what he’s getting himself into.

The moral of the story here is that Allen’s heart is in the right place, but he might be a little overly ambitious.
