Kansas Football Tried The Hide In The End Zone Trick On A Kickoff And It Sort Of Worked

Desperate to get anything going against Iowa State on Saturday, the Kansas Jayhawks football team tried something a bit unorthodox: hiding.

There are a few advantages that come with playing on your home field. You get to enjoy your own locker rooms, the crowd is on your side and you can try camouflaging a player with your end zone paint to try some wacky special teams shenanigans.

Kansas tried just that by putting LaQuvionte Gonzalez on his stomach hiding in plain sight. It’s one of those crazy college football things like the Fainting Goat Technique, but it almost worked!

I love the side-by-side look on this play. Great work by ESPN.

The Iowa State Twitter account was having none of this nonsense.

There are levels of success when it comes to football trickeration. Kansas football gets points for trying here. They also didn’t completely screw it up and fumble the ball or anything like that. It was, however, only good for 34 yards on a kickoff return. Maybe just let it go out of the end zone and save that one for when you’re playing a worse special teams unit, Jayhawks. But then again, 34 yards is 34 yards, and now we’re writing about Kansas football. That has to count for something.
