Kimbo Slice Will Rematch James Thompson, The Man Whose Ear He Exploded On CBS

It hasn’t been an easy few months for Kimbo Slice. He barely won a fight with his protégé, Dada 5000, at Bellator 149. After the fight, Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock both got popped for the steroid Nandrolone, which in turn put Kimbo on a 90-day suspension. Regardless of the drama, Bellator president Scott Coker hopped on SportsCenter, a jaunt familiar to UFC president Dana White, to announce Kimbo’s next opponent. To the acceptance of some and the dismay of others, Kimbo Slice/James Thompson II was made official.

Rumors were swirling about this rematch being alongside a Josh Koscheck/Paul Daley fight in London, and now we know that an “unfinished business” card is being made official for this summer.

The original fight was a classic for the now defunct Elite XC, but not for any reason other than Kimbo Slice exploding James Thompson’s ear live on CBS. It was unforgettable when seen live, and even now, eight years later, it’s still unbelievable. Let’s take a look back for old time’s sake

Thompson was letting Kimbo have it, and was leading on all scorecards heading into the third round before this happened:

Will we see Kimbo win again so he can continue his march towards Bellator gold? He doesn’t have much time left. He told us that much earlier this year. But another win that will put him 3-0 in Bellator could make a title shot hard to deny for the 42-year-old.
