Kirk Cousins Shared A Great Moment With His Dad, Who Attended His First Game Since Cancer Diagnosis

Kirk Cousins celebrated the Redskins’ 47-14 win against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in heartwarming fashion by giving the game ball to his father Don, who’s been unable to attend any of his son’s games this season since he was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year.

It was a touching moment post-game for the Cousins, with Don clearly appreciating the gesture when Kirk walked over to the crowd, gave him a hug and the ball. Said Kirk after the game:

“To have him back was exciting and to have a game like that was a lot of fun, gave him the game ball,” Washington’s quarterback said. “He just said, ‘Thank you. Thanks for a great day,’ put a smile on his face and it was special for our family and we’ll enjoy it tonight.”

Cousins threw a career-high four touchdowns against the much maligned Saints defense, ending the game 20 for 25 with 324 yards and zero interceptions. It was a much needed win for a Redskins team that still has a shot at the playoffs when you consider the lousy state of the NFC East, putting Washington only one game behind the division lead. But for tonight, at least, we’re pretty sure Kirk and his family won’t be thinking about their playoff odds.
