Former basketball chucker Kobe Bryant has a lot free time on his hands after he put up 50 shots in his final game, but it doesn’t sound like he will be joining Inside the NBA on TNT.

TMZ engaged Bryant as he was coming out of a bank or something and asked about the job. Bryant gave a turnaround, fadeaway response of “No.” And let’s be clear here: this is a tragedy that not even Shakespeare himself could capture in a couplet.

Consider what Inside the NBA is — an entertaining studio show with Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson, four guys who love talking about basketball and enjoy taking fun-loving shots at each other. And why wouldn’t Kobe, as humorless a human being that has ever existed, not fit into a group that dabbles in self-deprecation now and then?

Can you imagine what would happen on that set the first time Shaq took a poke at Kobe? The pouting would be off the charts. Or everyone would have to walk on eggshells around Kobe, who would probably freak out if he wasn’t the center of attention for five damn seconds. That’s always great television

Anyway, best of luck to Kobe as he continues to deal with slowly fading from the spotlight that nourishes his ego.
