According to Uproxx’s resident adventurer and Life managing editor Steve Bramucci, the fish in this video are not “salmon,” as this video from America’s Funniest Home Videos states, but Asian carp. As it turns out, these fish are a highly invasive species found in the southern United States that are known for getting spooked by boats and other motored watercraft, which causes them to “leap high into the air.” As a result, rednecks have taken to hunting the fish with bows and arrows, and other weapons not traditionally used to catch fish — as you can surmise from the dozens of videos on YouTube.
