Lamar Jackson Is Such A Heisman Lock That People Are Already Selling Betting Tickets As If He’s Won

Lamar Jackson has been the Heisman Trophy front-runner for a long time, and everyone knows it. Prior to Louisville’s unexpected loss to in-state rival Kentucky in the season finale, Jackson was seen as a ridiculous 1-to-50 favorite to claim the honor as the nation’s best college football player and, despite that mishap against the Wildcats, most in the industry expect the talented signal-caller to emerge victorious in New York next week.

With that in mind, a fan that placed a very enterprising $100 bet on Jackson to win the Heisman before the season is already turning a profit, and a crazy one at that.

The notion that a ticket worth $10,000 if he wins could reasonably sell for $8,500 before an entire week of football is even played speaks to the fact that many see Jackson as an absolute lock. To be fair, that would not be the craziest opinion in the world, especially in light of Jackson’s incredible statistics that include 30 passing touchdowns to go along with 1,538 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground. Perhaps more importantly, though, the absence of a clearly defined “number two” candidate undoubtedly buoys Jackson’s candidacy, and aside from a massive breakout performance from Jake Browning, Jalen Hurts, Deshaun Watson or another more veiled option, it is Jackson’s award to lose.

It might seem wild that one could turn $100 into $8,500 before Lamar Jackson actually wins the Heisman Trophy, but we live in a wild world and this just seems brilliant.
