Let’s Watch Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto Throw Out The First Pitch At A White Sox Game

Japanese people love baseball. They also love competition shows where people try to out-cook each other in a mystical food fortress, so I’m sure they’re in love with this clip of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto throwing out the first pitch before Monday’s Chicago White Sox/Detroit Tigers game.

I’m a big fan of the original ‘Iron Chef’ show … not so much the one where the Food Network orchestrated a domestic remake so Bobby Flay could pretend he’s exactly the same as Hiroyuki Sakai. Personally, I would’ve loved to have seen Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi throw out the pitch instead. He was always my favorite. Plus, he’s the Son of the God of Sichuan pitching!

I hope you’re enjoying these alienating, 15-year old cooking show jokes. Here’s the clip. I’ll shut up.

Compare and contrast that to his first pitch at Citizen’s Bank Park last season. He had the same schtick, sure, but in that one he’s PITCHING TO THE PHILLIE PHANATIC. GET AWAY FROM HIM, PHANATIC, OR YOU’LL BE THE NEXT SECRET INGREDIENT. HE WILL PUT YOU IN THE ICE CREAM MAKER.
