Mike Francesa Is Completely Flummoxed By The Timeline Behind The ‘Star Wars’ Films

Everyone knows that one person who has a hard time grasping the timeline of the Star Wars franchise. As everyone knows, the order of the movies go 4-6, then 1-3, which sounds easy enough to remember if you take like two seconds to understand how it works.

Mike Francesa has no time to understand how the order of the six films work. To him, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was the first movie to come out, therefore, it is the first Star Wars movie. This became apparent on his radio show when he tried to understand what role George Lucas had in “four, five, and six” – which means The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith by his definition – and got a lesson on a thing that he couldn’t quite grasp.

The discussion about the film’s release dates and titles begins around the 48-second mark, but things really begin to pick up around 1:13, when Francesa tries to explain his position (that the first movie is one, the second movie is two, etc.) and everyone else tries to explain that the Star Wars films began with episode four. If you want to jump right to the part where Francesa starts wondering if the series is based off books, go to 1:38.

Make sure you tune in next week, when Mike Francesa watches Pulp Fiction for the first time and thinks it’s a bad movie because the entire thing is out of order.
