The New Day Edited Today’s Edition Of UK Newspaper ‘The New Day’

We’ll go ahead and file this one under “Things That Had To Happen Eventually.” In the United Kingdom, there’s a very new publication called The New Day. Owned by the same people who bring you the Daily Mirror, it was launched in February with the mission of being a light, politically neutral newspaper. And in case you somehow missed it, WWE has been making their yearly stop in the paper’s country of origin. So, what happens when Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods find themselves on the home turf of an entirely different New Day? Beautiful, beautiful synergy happens. That’s kind of a relief, because people have sued for less.

That’s right: Not only did the tag team champs stop by for a visit, they served as guest editors for the April 19 edition. If we’ve got any readers in England (and I suspect we do), this should be on newsstands today, and I’m curious to see how much input they got on the issue. If the entire edition is decked out in unicorns, rainbows, and novelty cereal boxes, then we’ll know they had 100% creative control.

Edit: Here’s a look at the finished product, with a hat tip to Reddit.

Before they got down to business, they enjoyed some tea with the staff and got quizzed on some exceedingly British sports terminology.

I know “nutmeg” and that’s about it. You can thank years of youth soccer league for that one. In the meantime, can we just have The New Day be cultural ambassadors to every nation that WWE visits? It would make for some great episodes of UpUpDownDown.
