For the most part, the sports side of things at the Rio Olympics have been relatively free of controversy. While there have been some issues outside of the Games, like U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte reportedly getting held up at gunpoint, the actual sports have been mostly fine.

We say “mostly” because there has been one notable bizarre sports-related issue: pools at the Olympics are randomly turning green. It is believed to be because of algae, and along with the nasty color, the pools are taking on an odor that makes the entire building smell like farts.

But there is good news on the green smelly pool front, as officials in Rio reportedly have figured out how to make the water less…gross. According to USA Today, the solution is pretty simple, as they are going to take all the green water, drain it, and replace it with water that isn’t green.

Green water from the diving pool will be drained and replaced with water from the warmup pool, officials said in a news conference Saturday. They said the water in the warrmup pool is in good condition.

The water turned green Aug. 5 after a contractor poured 80  liters of hydrogen peroxide in each pool, which negated the effectiveness of the chlorine.

Draining the water will start Saturday afternoon and the process of replacing the water should take place overnight.

So to recap, the solution to this problem is to take the bad thing, get rid of it, and replace it with a good thing. Who knew that we could all learn a valuable life lesson from the green fart water at the Rio Olympics?
