Peyton Manning Is Preparing To Give This Football Thing One More Shot

He’s almost 39, he has a surgically repaired neck, he’s rich, he’s a Super Bowl champion, he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, he’s a pizza mogul and he’s apparently not ready to retire. Peyton Manning is training to come back for another season, according to The Times-Picayune.

Manning is reportedly working out in New Orleans to prepare himself for an 18th season in the NFL:

The Denver Broncos’ quarterback has been evaluated by renowned fitness trainer Mackie Shilstone and is expected to begin training with Shilstone this week as he starts offseason preparations for his 18th NFL season, two sources close to Manning said Monday.

According to the report, he wants to speak with Broncos GM John Elway before making his official decision to come back. It would be hard to imagine Elway not approving, considering Denver already owes Peyton $19 million for 2015, their other QB is Brock Osweiler and, while he struggled down the stretch, Manning still had another stellar season.

Still, whether he can hold up for a full season seems to be in doubt. Hopefully he can. Watching a once-great player throw a bunch of dead ducks around the field like he did in their playoff game against Indy is depressing.
