Last week, we were treated to a real life Disney movie story, when it was reported that a chocolate Labrador retriever named Boogie Butts had escaped from his home one night, only to be found the very next day running and completing a half-marathon. The Evansville, Indiana pooch with a history of escape trickery became an Internet sensation for his antics, and he was even celebrated by his town and awarded a medal for finishing the race in a very impressive 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Alas, if this truly is a Disney story, then I’m afraid its ending is on par with the beginnings of such classics as Bambi, Dumbo and The Lion King, because on Tuesday Boogie’s daddy, Jerry Butts, posted to Facebook that Boogie has passed away.
Hug your dogs today, folks. And tell them about the legend of Boogie Butts.
:(
Seems strange since Boogie Butts was only 8 years old. I wonder what did him in.
This wasn’t heartworms. It was murder!
The linked news article says it was a heartattack.
I must be blind. Didn’t see that in the article I clicked on.
Nippo, you might want to see an optometrist. The 4th paragraph states: “Boogie’s family posted on Facebook that the dog died of a heart attack on Tuesday.” Or maybe the article was changed after you read it….
Yup, I’m blind.
