I swear I’ve seen this video of an overzealous Seattle Mariners fan breaking it down with his young daughters in an empty stadium before, but I think that my mind may have just finally boiled over from spending way too much time on YouTube over the last 10 years. Either way, this real life Phil Dunphy and his two daughters were among the only people who stuck around to watch the Seattle Mariners pull off an 8-7 win over the Chicago White Sox in 10 innings at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday night.
And because it was Friday, they just wanted to DANCE… DANCE… DANCE.
Needless to say, the video went viral over the weekend because people love watching parents dance around like big ol’ goofballs with their young kids. And because this guy put on a display for the ages, some people have already dubbed him Dad of the Year. But don’t worry, because YouTube user Kalanpaska69 sees right through this pathetic act:
Just because he is dancing, he is suddenly the best dad in the world and a good parent? He and his kids may seem happy there, but you don’t even know, he might beat his kids at home or something like that. Just saying.
In fact, let’s go ahead and get child protective services in on Mariners dad ASAP. Guilty before proven innocent, that’s what me and the Internet always say.
Oh youtube commenters. If you’re a dancing dad, you beat your children. Just like if you donate to charity, you’re probably John Wayne Gacy.
Youtube, you’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and….well mostly just scum and idiocy
Just going to go out on a limb and say he dances more like David Brent.
Almost reminds you of WHAT??? Dammit, I need to know!!!!!!!!!!! This is gonna bother me all week… Way to cut off the video right before the most important part, jackass what made it. -.-;
And this “dance” is why Mariners fans pale in comparison to the White Sox fans.
I hate to perpetuate the stereotype of White Sox fans being the Raider nation (albeit a much smaller fan base) of baseball. But, as a huge Sox fan myself, I attended a Dodgers-Cubs game at Dodger Stadium a few years ago with an ex-gf who is a Cubs fan. I wore my Sox hat, and was not alone, as there were nearly as many people in Sox gear as Cubs gear that evening (shocking to me, as I only know like four other Sox fans in LA). While walking to my seat with a Dodger Dog, nachos, and overpriced beer, I saw a middle aged dad in a Mark Buerhle jersey, along with his two daughters, probably about 11 and 13, also in Buerhle jerseys. The older daughter saw my Sox hat and enthusiastically proclaimed “fuck yeah, go Sox.” Her family all smiled, and her dad gave her a high five.
As the father of a little girl myself, I can’t wait until a few years from now when I can also educate (brainwash?) her about all great things White Sox, and terrible things Cubs.
